Get ready to beat the heat during this Splash Day in Blaine on Friday, August 14th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the corner of 3rd and Martin Streets.

The street will be shut down and the water will be turned on for a day of sprinklers, splash zones, and summer activities.  You can run through sprinklers, splash around, and get wet!

Cool off with tasty treats.  Hot dogs and refreshments will be available for purchase.

ADMISSION IS FREE!

On Friday, August 14th, it’s “The Matrix,” starring Keanu Reeves!  “Set in the 22nd century, The Matrix tells the tory of a computer hacker who joins a group of underground insurgents fighting the vast and powerful computers who now rule the earth.”

You’ll hear tales of historical happenings and true crimes in the dark heart of Bellingham.

The tour is led by a costumed guide and runs appx. 1-1.5 hours.  Total distance is less than one mile.  After the tour, those over 21 will be eligible for drink specials at Amendment 21 at Hotel Leo.

The Let ‘Er Ride Car Show is Saturday, August 15th at Arrowhead Rance on Camano Island!

This car show is designed for the entire family!  Check out an awesome lineup of cars with your friends and family.  There will be LIVE Entertainment with the local group, Stomping.  Get food and beverages from Pure Smoke BBQ and Keller Hospitality (Rockaway/Blue Heron)

Plus, take your shot in the Archery game.  The closest to the center will take home the grand prize.

Admission to the public is FREE.  Registration cost for cars is $30 without a t-shirt, $45 with a t-shirt.  On-site registration will be $50.  Proceeds benefit the Arrowhead Rance Foundation and Let ‘Er Fly Archery as they raise funds to build a covered range that archers can enjoy all year long.

Cars can lineup at 6:00am.  Admission to the public is 10:00am-2:00pm.

Wild Things is an educational morning at a Bellingham Park, designed for kids 0-6 years old and their adults.  Wild Things takes place Fridays & Saturdays from 9:30am-11:00am.

In August, our local parks are ripe with recreational opportunities and places to explore! We always manage to find a hill to climb, search for banana slugs, and eat plenty of delectable berries in August.

We’re using lots of “Super Secret Spider Spray” this month to reveal the beauty of shimmering spider webs. Those discoveries are priceless!

Program is FREE, but there is a suggested donation of $10 per person, $20 per family.

Head down to Squalicum Harbor and follow the signs to the market where fishermen await with their product! We set up outside at Gate 5 from June through October and inside the Fishermen’s Pavilion (2599 S. Harbor Loop Drive) from November through May.

Pick your seafood, pay the fishermen directly, and head home with your delicious catch.

The Friends of the Deming Library will be opening their book room for browsing and purchasing on Saturdays from 10:00am-5:00pm in June, July & August!  (NOTE: There is no sale on Saturday, July 4th)

You’ll find a HUGE selection of books covering a variety of subjects and genres.  Books can be paid for using cash, checks, or the Give Butter donation websute.

Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Deming Library and their support of Deming Library programs and maintenance.

The book room is just outside of the Deming Library building.
