Dancing Dana Carr, LLC, invites you to a Sunset Silent Disco on Saturday, August 8th from 7:30pm-9:00pm at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham.

Move to the music with your friends in the fresh air and enjoy the ocean view as you watch the sun set.  They’ll broadcast a diverse playlist on a radio transmitter that can be picked up on headphones.  Headphones will be available on a first come, first served basis.

This event is FREE and open to all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, genders, abilities, sexual identities, etc.  Wear comfy clothes and footwear.  FREE Parking is adjacent to the park.

The Whatcom Museum invites you on a historical tour of Old City Hall on Sunday, July 26th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.

These one-hour, docent-led tours start on the first floor and take you through the historical building that was built in 1892 and was Bellingham’s original city hall until the 1930s.  You’ll learn quirky facts and trivia and hear stories about the colorful characters that worked or passed through the iconic building.

WCAHA Golf Tournament

The Whatcom County Amateur Hockey Association hosts their Charity Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 9th at North Bellingham Golf Club.

Sign up your team for a great day of golf and compete for prizes.  There will be ongoing games and contests along the course, as well.  Then, stick around for dinner, awards, and happy hour after you’re done!

Cost is $125 per person, $500 per team of 4.  Entry includes green fee, cart, dinner, and welcome kit.  Proceeds benefit the WCAHA Scholarship Program.

Weekly Mountain Bike Ride

Shifting Gears hosts a weekly mountain bike ride for women that want to explore the trails of Galbraith Mountain every Monday from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Rides are open to various experience and skill levels for all women (cis, queer, trans) that are 18 and older, regardless of riding experience, body size, and biking anxiety.  There’s a maximum of 8 riders plus two Shifting Gears leaders in each group, so the focus is on having fun and supporting each other.

Rides are available in different skill levels, so be sure to check out the website for more information and to register for the ride you want to be on.

All Comers Track & Field Meet

The Bellingham Parks & Rec All Comer Track & Field Events are fun for the whole family!  The season starts on Monday, June 15th and runs thru August 17th.  The meets are Mondays at 6pm at Civic Field. The meets are $6 per person for one meet, but they have individual and family season passes available!

All Comers is a Bellingham tradition where generations of participants, from first-time competitors to seasoned athletes, come together to race, jump, and throw! Whether you’re sprinting the 100 meters, launching a shot put, or soaring in the high jump, there’s something for everyone.

Open to all ages and skill levels, this welcoming series is all about fun, friendly competition, and community spirit. Lace up your sneakers, bring your friends, and join us on the track! For the full event schedule, course records, and more, visit cob.org/races or email parks@cob.org.

Participants who are able to predict their time within 3 seconds win a prize. On the last Monday of each month, we will forgo the 1500 meter and offer a 5K.

The Elizabeth Park Concert Series is BACK for its 31st season of FREE, family-friendly concerts EVERY THURSDAY from 6pm-8pm!

On Thursday, August 13th, enjoy the tunes of The JP Falcon Band!

Vendors will be on-site with some dinner and dessert options.  Concerts are FREE and sponsored by the Eldridge Society for History and Preservation, in partnership with Bellingham Parks & Recreation.

Picnickers are encouraged to recycle and compost to be good park stewards. Alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not permitted in city parks. Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Wild Things is an educational morning at a Bellingham Park, designed for kids 0-6 years old and their adults.  Wild Things takes place Fridays & Saturdays from 9:30am-11:00am.

In August, our local parks are ripe with recreational opportunities and places to explore! We always manage to find a hill to climb, search for banana slugs, and eat plenty of delectable berries in August.

We’re using lots of “Super Secret Spider Spray” this month to reveal the beauty of shimmering spider webs. Those discoveries are priceless!

Program is FREE, but there is a suggested donation of $10 per person, $20 per family.
