01/30/2026 - 03/31/2026 - All Day
Doug Borneman is walking 1,000 miles on a mission to raise $10,000 for the Bellingham Food Bank!
From the Bellingham Food Bank Press Release:
Borneman is a lifelong Bellingham resident, former business owner, long distance walking enthusiast and food bank volunteer. He is combining his love for walking and passion for giving to support the Bellingham Food Bank in providing the community with a thriving food system where everyone has equitable access to the food they need and want.
The journey will take place on a variety of the famed Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes in Spain. Starting in Sevilla on the Villa de la Plata (silver way), Borneman will trek north through central Spain before connecting to other camino routes. Updates can be found on Facebook and Instagram pages for DougBorneman.
“Long distance walks have been a passion of mine for a long time” says Borneman. “I’ve walked through the Cascade mountains, deserts of Arizona, Himalaya in Nepal and Camino de Santiago paths in Spain and Portugal. I’m excited to turn this passion into giving back to the community. While my feet and body may hurt throughout this walk, it’s nothing compared to the pain of not being able to feed yourself or your family. I hope my friends and the community at large will get behind me to help support feeding those in need.”
