Run 31 with KAFE 104.1

31 Days. At Least 1 Mile a Day. One Community Standing Together.

Every mile honors someone you nominate. Every mile ends with the same reminder: get checked, and the earlier the better.

At least one mile per day to bring awareness.

This October, Patrice is running at least one mile every single day. Not for a medal, and not for a time. Each mile is dedicated to one real person from right here in our community: someone in treatment today, someone who kicked cancer’s butt(!!!), or someone we lost and we miss dearly.

And here’s where you come in. Run, walk, skip, crawl, skate or scooter your mile right alongside us, wherever you happen to be. Your neighborhood, the treadmill at lunch, the trail you already love. Same day, same person, same reason.

Our own Charlie Maxx has done this every October since she lost her mom to breast cancer in 2016. One mile a day, all month, in her honor. This year Patrice is lacing up right alongside her, and we’d love for the rest of the PNW to come along.

We’re running for awareness. We honor the ones we’ve lost, support the ones fighting today, and celebrate the ones who’ve traveled the journey, so that more people get screened and more of these stories end well. If you’ve been putting off your mammogram, let this be your reminder.

How to join us

Run it your way

Anywhere, anytime, any pace. A treadmill, a trail, a lap around the block with the stroller, a roll in a wheelchair. You don’t have to be a runner. It all counts.

Sign up and get a shirt

Sign up by October 5 and pick up your shirt at our Festive Friday pickup on October 9.

Share your miles

Post with #KAFERuns31, join the KAFE Strava group, or text your photos to the station line at 360.676.KAFE. We’ll read your posts on the air on Fridays.

Dates to know

Pink Friday — October 30

7:00am · Finale run, live on the air. We finish the month together on treadmills and read all 31 names. The location is still being finalized, and we’ll announce it here and on the air as soon as it’s set. Space is limited, so tell us on the sign-up form if you want a spot.

Mt. Baker Imaging

11:00am to 1:00pm · Walk-in mammogram party at Mt. Baker Imaging. One day a year, Mt. Baker Imaging’s Women’s Diagnostic Center sets appointments aside and takes walk-ins for screening mammograms. It’s a party, and Patrice will be broadcasting live from it. Mammograms aren’t free, but you don’t need an appointment. If you’ve been putting it off, this is the day.

You ran for them. Now do this one for you.

Sign up to run with us

Tell us you’re in. Sign up by October 5 to get a shirt, and let us know if you want a treadmill spot at the October 30 finale.

Two more ways to be part of it

Nominate someone we’ll run for

Tell us about someone fighting breast cancer right now, someone who beat it, or someone you’ve lost. We’ll read their name and their story on the air.
