Who you can nominate
Anyone whose life breast cancer has touched. We’d love to hear about:
Someone in it right now
The friend in treatment. The coworker who’s been in and out of appointments. The neighbor who could use a morning where a whole community is pulling for her.
Someone who kicked cancer’s butt
Survivors deserve a victory lap, and a lot of them never got one. Let’s give them a mile and a whole lot of noise.
Someone you miss
If you lost her, tell us about her. Saying her name out loud on the radio is a way of keeping her here a little longer.
And yes, men too
Men get breast cancer. It’s rarer, it gets caught later because nobody’s looking for it, and those stories deserve air time just as much.
What makes a great nomination
Don’t worry about writing it perfectly. Patrice will shape it for the air. Just tell us what would make a stranger driving to work feel like they know this person:
The little stuff. She puts hot sauce on everything. He coached T-ball for eleven years. She still yells at the Seahawks like they can hear her.
How they handled it, and how you know them. That last part is usually what gets everybody.
A few sentences is plenty. A photo helps too, if you have one you love.
Before you hit send, one ask
This is someone’s health, and it’s their story to tell. Please check with your honoree first and make sure they’re comfortable having their name and story shared on the air and here on our website. If you’re nominating someone you’ve lost, check with their closest family.
Patrice will reach out to you before we read any name, so we get the details right, say it the way they’d want it said, and pronounce it correctly.
