Mount Vernon Parks & Rec are hosting a Sensory Indoor Recess on Fridays from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Hillcrest Park in Mount Vernon.

This is a space designed for children and families that will benefit from a calmer environment.  There will be hands-on toys, sensory tools, books, arts and crafts, and more.  Kids will be welcome to explore these at their own pace.

The space is full enclosed, making it easier for caregivers of kids who tend to wander.

Widely hailed as the Bard’s most dazzling romantic comedy, this tale is packed with razor-sharp banter, tangled misunderstandings, and outrageous twists that lead to much ado about nothing. Come ready to swoon, laugh, and cheer as love conquers all in true Shakespearean style!

Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for kids with an ASB card.

The Friends of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands and Anacortes Parks & Recreation are hosting a work party on Saturday, November 8th from 9am-12pm at the Little Cranberry Lake Parking Lot.

Volunteers will be spending the morning improving the trail surface near the lakeshore observation platform.  There will be plenty of wheelbarrows, shovels, crushed rock, and other tools to get the job done.  No RSVP needed.

Community Work Party – Rustatz Salmon Reserve

Whatcom Land Trust is holding a Community Work Party on Saturday, November 8th from 9am-12pm at the Rustatz Salmon Reserve.

Volunteers will be preparing the area to thrive through the wet winter by planting native trees and shrubs that will help restore habitat and removing invasive blackberry that has started to overtake the area.

The reserve is between the North Fork of the Nooksack River and Rustatz Road and has an amazing floodplain, young forest, and an active hay field.  It’s home to annual salmon runs and bald eagles…even the occasional elk.
