Sunset Silent Disco

Dancing Dana Carr, LLC, invites you to a Sunset Silent Disco on Saturday, October 3rd from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham.
Move to the music with your friends in the fresh air and enjoy the ocean view as you watch the sun set. They’ll broadcast a diverse playlist on a radio transmitter that can be picked up on headphones. Headphones will be available on a first come, first served basis.
This event is FREE and open to all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, genders, abilities, sexual identities, etc. Wear comfy clothes and footwear. FREE Parking is adjacent to the park.

Hear and see creepy tales from Downtown Bellingham’s crypts on this Downtown Bellingham Gore & Lore Tour!
You’ll hear tales of historical happenings and true crimes in the dark heart of Bellingham.
The tour is led by a costumed guide and runs appx. 1-1.5 hours. Total distance is less than one mile. After the tour, those over 21 will be eligible for drink specials at Amendment 21 at Hotel Leo.
Lynden Lions Club Model Train & Toy Show

The 41st Annual Lynden Lions Club Model Train & Toy Show is Saturday, October 3rd from 9am-5pm & Sunday, October 4th from 10am-4pm at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden!
This year’s show features over 50,000 square feet of running model train layouts, exhibits, and vendors. Trains of all gauges for train buffs of all ages. Plus, the event will feature a number of toy vendors, as well.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids 6-12, and FREE for kids under 6. Families of up to six people get in for $25. All proceeds from the show benefit the Lions Club community projects in Lynden.
Old City Hall History Tours

The Whatcom Museum invites you on a historical tour of Old City Hall on Sunday, July 26th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
These one-hour, docent-led tours start on the first floor and take you through the historical building that was built in 1892 and was Bellingham’s original city hall until the 1930s. You’ll learn quirky facts and trivia and hear stories about the colorful characters that worked or passed through the iconic building.

The Birchwood Garden Club hosts their monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00pm at the Whatcom Museum Rotunda Room in Bellingham.

October’s topic will be Natural Pest Management Through Biodiversity in the PNW Garden: Everyone has a Role to Play.”
The speaker will be Alison Kurtz of Sound Horticulture in Bellingham. Sound Horticulture was established in 2000 to reduce the use of toxic pesticides in the environment by supplying biological controls for managing pests and diseases. As founder and owner, with extensive nursery experience, Alison can recommend a variety of options to, as she says, “fill in our integrated toolbox with solutions to our key pests here.”
The adage, build it and they will come, holds special truth when it comes to backyard gardens. Building habitat for our beneficial insects, birds, and bats is becoming a focal part of our gardens these days. Alison will explore these concepts and also discuss where other interventions for natural pest management may come into play. Please join us!
Birchwood Garden Club is open to anyone in Whatcom or Skagit Counties. You’re invited to their monthly meetings where membership brochures will be available.
Fairhaven Ghost Tour

Paranormal expert, Charles Crooks, will be sharing stories and haunts in historic Fairhaven! These stories are based on his own experiences, as well as history that has been passed along.
Tickets are $$27.50. This is a walking tour, so be prepared to get some steps in.

FREE Scottish Country Dance Class

You’re invited to a FREE Scottish Country Dance Class on Saturday, October 10th from 10am-12pm at the Littlefield Celtic Center in Mount Vernon.
SCD classes at Littlefield Celtic Center are general, multi-level sessions with some step practice and teaching of dances. Once we have a feeling for the make-up of the class, we’d like to focus on beginners and inexperienced dancers for the first 45 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of general social dancing for everyone, and we’ll end with 45 minutes of focus for more experienced dancers.
Beginners are most welcome; we would like to work using a building-block approach where we will review and build on skills learned in the previous class. The goals of RSCDS include “Fun, Fitness, Friendship.” If this sounds appealing, then SCD is for you! If you enjoy dancing socially to wonderful, traditional music, if you would like to try dancing in a team (set) with six or eight other dancers, if you think you might enjoy some energetic but graceful and elegant dancing—with a little bit of courtliness thrown in—then this is for you!
No partner or special clothing is needed. Loose and comfortable is the best. Women often wear skirts (not a requirement). Soft-soled shoes, such as ballet or jazz shoes allow you to move around the floor with ease and to point your toe, but don’t let that prevent you from giving SCD a try.
Bring a cheerful smile, a willingness to listen, and a desire to “have a go”! We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor!
Model Train Open House

You’re invited to the Whatcom Skagit Model Railroad Club’s Open House on Saturday, October 10th from 11am-3pm in Alger!
You can view the HO and N scale layouts and see the trains run. This event is all-ages! Suggested donations are $3 per person or $5 per family.
