Elizabeth Park Concert Series

For ten Thursdays this summer Elizabeth Park in Bellingham will be filled amazing live and local music. These family friendly and FREE concerts are sponsored by The Eldridge Society, in partnership with Bellingham Parks and Recreation. Join your neighbors from 6-8pm every Thursday from June 23rd through August 25th.

Food will be available for purchase, and picnickers are encouraged to recycle and compost. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the concerts.

The Who’s ‘Tommy’ at BAAY!

The Who’s Tommy rocks Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth! An inspirational creation from The Who’s Peter Townshend, this compelling tale takes us through the life of Tommy, who can ‘sure play mean pinball!’ This show features students in the BAAY Pro division of performers ages 16-18, as well as an ensemble of talented students ages 13-15. The Who’s Tommy is a surreal work of art that is not to be missed. Parental guidance suggested for younger viewers, but note that parts of the original show have been adapted to better suit this cast and BAAY’s community. Click HERE for showtimes, tickets, and more info!

This is the 50th year of the Chuckanut Foot Race and it is the longest running race in the State of Washington!

This point-to-point, seven-mile trail race starts at Marine Park in south Bellingham and finishes at Larrabee State Park, the oldest state park in Washington. The course follows the legendary Interurban Trail, which threads through the Chuckanut Mountains and features gorgeous views of Chuckanut Bay and the San Juan Islands. View the course map here. Busses will take runners back to the finish line and will leave with regularity.

The finish-line party at Larrabee State Park will include live music, food, and drink. Age-group awards will be given, three deep in each five-year category. Top three male and female finishers will also be recognized.

The Arthritis Foundation’s 17th Annual Golf Classic and Gala Auction is July 16th from 9:30am-9:00pm. You’re invited to help the Foundation “Swing FORE a Cure.” Event includes a day of golf at North Bellingham Golf Course and an evening Gala Auction at the exquisite Bellingham Country Club ballroom.

Celebrate Animals as Natural Therapy with a BBQ Bash on July 16th! Partake in some good ‘ole fashioned family fun with live bluegrass music by Prozac Mtn Boys and Moongrass, dancing, interactive games for all ages, up close and personal animal encounters and a tasty salmon barbecue. Admission is $10/youth, $20/adult (under 10 are free). All proceeds support the programs offered through Animals as Natural Therapy. Parking is available at Bank of the Pacific, 4124 Hannegan Road. Free shuttle service will be available to and from the farm. There will be limited parking onsite for families with car seats and visitors with disabilities.

Birch Bay Music Festival

The Birch Bay Music Festival is a 3-day event featuring 21 bands, a beer and wine garden, food booths, arts and crafts, and more.  This year’s music lineup includes Arcade Cowboys, The Electric Soul Society, Blue Eyed Mary, and more.  Proceeds from this event will help raise money for Orca Network, a Washington state non-profit dedicated to improving Orca habitats.  For more information, visit www.birchbaymusicfestival.com.

This four-person scramble format with cart will begin at 12:00 for registration and pre-game activities. Shot gun start at 1:00!

The ‘Dog Days of Summer 5K Walk/Run’ is Sunday, August 21st at Lake Padden Park
All dogs should bring your super human friends for a dash around Lake Padden to help benefit the Whatcom Humane Society! ‘Top Dog’ prizes awarded to the top finishers in the men’s, women’s, over 60 and kids divisions. Non-competitors can enjoy a jog or walk around the lake.  Everyone gets a swag bag and dogs get bandannas!

Registration:
• Pre Registration-Individual: $20, Day-of Registration at the event: $25
• Team: 3-5 members $60, 6-10 members $100, 11-20 members $125. Must preregister for team participation
• No cost for the dog and will receive a superhero bandanna.
• Superhero costumes encouraged.
