BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Keep an eye out for bus service changes coming to Bellingham later this month.

Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) said it’s consolidating its network from 10 to eight routes around Western Washington University (WWU).

Starting on Sunday, June 14, Route 190 will run through campus from downtown to Lakeway and Lincoln every 15 minutes. There will be extra shuttle trips through campus when the 190 trips can’t fit all the students at each bus stop.

WTA is also adding three timed transfer points throughout the route that will extend service through the Fairhaven, Puget, York and Happy Valley neighborhoods.

The agency said it’s making the changes to simplify its routing and accommodate fluctuations in demand across Western’s synchronized class times.
