BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Major changes could be coming to one of Bellingham’s busiest roadways in the coming years.

WSDOT has released more details for its upcoming resurfacing project of the Guide Meridian through an online open house.

Crews will be repaving the stretch of the Guide between I-5 and Kellogg Road, with construction expected to begin in spring 2027.

According to WSDOT, anywhere between 35,000 and 52,000 vehicles use the Guide each day.

After listening to community feedback, WSDOT says many people want to make it easier to merge between the NB I-5 off-ramp and Telegraph Road.

The agency’s new plans aim to simplify the flow of traffic at busy intersections like that one and make it safer for bikers and pedestrians to travel throughout the corridor. The proposed plan to change the NB I-5 off-ramp includes removing the channelized right turn and installing a right turn lane directly next to the left turn lane onto the Guide.

WSDOT is encouraging the public to learn more about the project and give their thoughts on the proposed changes.

The online open house is available through Dec. 1.
