UPDATE: Winter weather advisory shortened for Cascades in Whatcom, Skagit counties

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Take caution if you’re driving through the mountains over the next few days.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit counties from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, through 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2.

It had initially been issued through 11 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters are expecting between 4 and 8 inches of mountain snow, including at Mount Baker. They warn that travel could be very difficult over the mountains.

Drivers are being advised to slow down and use caution.
