BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Summer continues to rear her stubborn head in Whatcom County and gorgeous weather is forecast for this weekend. We have plenty for you to do in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Whatcom Water Week kicked off last Saturday, Sept. 12 and runs through Saturday, Sept. 19. It’s an annual event that celebrates water resources in Whatcom County.

Events on Friday, Sept. 18 include a Toddler Family Nature Walk at Whatcom Falls Park, an Accessible Nature Walk for Adults and a Salmon Seeker’s Guide to the County. Then on Saturday, events kick off with the Bellingham Dockside Market, a Forest Water Scavenger Hunt and a Beach Cleanup.

The Ferndale Chamber of Commerce has something special planned on Friday evening for all the foodies. Taste of Ferndale runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at businesses across downtown Ferndale.

Each stop at the seven locations on this walking tour will feature a snack to taste, local artists and drink options.

Tickets are $20 with check-in online or at WaFD Bank (2045 Main St.)

Oktoberfest kicks off on Saturday and that means it’s time for the 7th annual SunnylandFest.

Running all weekend long, this pub crawl festival celebrates the breweries in Bellingham’s quirkiest neighborhood. El Sueñito, Stemma West, Wander, Otherlands Beer and Kulshan Sunnyland will all have special beers on tap.

This year, Stemma Brewing is hosting a stein holding competition on Friday night. The event is sanctioned by the U.S. Steinholding Association and is a qualifier for the USSA State Stein Holding Championship.

Fans of vegan food are in luck. Bellingham Vegfest is on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barkley Village Green. The free event features food, art, crafts and a whole lot more.

We have two featured live shows for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout. Both shows are on Sunday evening.

Fans of heavy music should head to the Shakedown for a night of death metal, death metal and more death metal. Morta Skuld will headline with their brand of thrashy blast beat and catchy riff-filled carnage.

Opening acts include Ripping Remains, Coffin Rot, and Human Puzzle.

It will be a very different vibe at Wild Buffalo on Sunday night. Fortunate Youth is a California based reggae band that fuses roots reggae vibes with the sweet sounds of SoCal. Fans of Sublime, Slightly Stoopid and Bob Marley don’t want to miss this one.

Opening for Fortunate Youth is For Peace. For tickets, go to wildbuffalo.net.
