OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Over a dozen public schools in our region have been recognized for a variety of academic improvements.

The State Board of Education released its annual list of schools that achieved improved standards between the 2023-24 and the 2024-25. Nine schools in Whatcom County made this year’s list, along with ten schools in Skagit County.

Blaine Middle School and Meridian High School both saw significant gains in English-Language Arts proficiency. Testing scores for math improved for certain student groups at Beach Elementary School and Acme Elementary School. And attendance rates ticked up at Cordata Elementary School for low-income students and students with disabilities.

In Skagit County, testing scores in English and math were noticeably improved at Fidalgo Elementary School, Concrete Elementary School, La Conner Middle School, and the Conway School.
