BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Preparations will soon be underway for Whatcom County’s severe winter weather shelter.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that the shelter’s lease formally begins on Saturday, but operations won’t be ready until at least November 15.

Prior to that date, members of the community are being invited to tour the space and ask questions.

Whatcom County Health and Community Services will host an open house at 925 N Forest St. on November 12 starting at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to guided tours, health officials will give a presentation before taking questions or comments.

The open house is free to the public, and no advance registration is required.
