LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County residents will soon have another chance to learn more about the new jail.

The county is hosting its second community engagement workshop for the Justice Project in Lynden next month.

The Justice Project initiative, which was approved by voters in Nov. 2023, includes construction of a new jail and behavioral care center.

The county is expected to make a final decision on the capacity, scope and budget of the facilities this spring before construction begins later this year.

People who attend next month’s event can offer their feedback before those decisions are made and view a presentation on the county’s progress so far.

The workshop takes place on Thursday, March 19, at the Lynden City Annex Chamber.
