Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office seeks help finding overdue hiker

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an overdue hiker who was last believed to be in east Whatcom County.

Deputies said 55-year-old Steven Dorsett hasn’t been heard from since June 24.

He was leaving the Canyon Creek Trailhead and possibly headed to Corral Lake, though the exact details of his trip remain unclear. The Sheriff’s Office said he was expected to return no later than this past weekend.

Search efforts are focused on Harts Pass, Pasayten Trail, Big Craggy and Pacific Crest Trail.

Dorsett stands 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds. He is believed to be carrying a green Gregory Paragon backpack and using a green Marmot tent and sleeping bag.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
