WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County’s jobless rate saw a minor bump last month.

That’s according to newly released data from the state Employment Security Department, which shows that the county’s unemployment rate sat at 4.6% in August.

That’s up slightly from July’s rate, but down from a year ago when it stood at 4.8% in August 2024.

Skagit County saw a similar trend, where its jobless rate had a minor increase from July to August, but took a moderate drop from where it sat the same time last year.

Meanwhile, the state’s seasonally adjusted rate stayed the exact same in both instances.
