WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County residents now have a way to keep tabs on the county’s sprawling plan to reshape its criminal justice system.

The county announced on Tuesday, April 14 that it’s released a new website that offers data related to its Justice Project initiative.

The plan is made up of 15 projects, including the new county jail, which seeks to make sweeping changes to how the county addresses criminal justice and behavioral health.

The new website aims to answer questions related to incarceration such as how it’s being reduced, what alternatives there are and who makes up the jail’s population.

It includes statistics and reports from local agencies and organizations ranging from alternative response outlets to the court system.

Community members can further follow progress on the Justice Project by attending meetings with the planning committee or incarceration reduction task force.
