LUMMI ISLAND, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Ferry sailings are back in service to Lummi Island.

Whatcom County Public Works says that Whatcom Chief services from Gooseberry Point to Lummi Island are back to their regular schedule as of 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

Rides were suspended for an hour Wednesday due to an unspecified issue. All rides prior to 1 p.m. were cancelled as the U.S. Coast Guard conducted annual inspections.

In a reply to a social media post about the outage, a spokesperson for the county said that the inspection had initially been scheduled as part of their dry dock outage.

But, as My Bellingham Now previously reported, the dry dock was postponed until the fall after their contracted shipyard for the outage reported delays in their schedule.

My Bellingham Now has reached out to the Coast Guard for additional comment.
