OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The lone state amendment in the general election is on track to pass.

Senate Joint Resolution No. 8201 has garnered nearly 57% approval from voters across the state in the latest tally.

Whatcom County voters favored the amendment slightly more, with just over 60% of residents voting for it.

If it goes on to pass, money put into the state’s WA Cares Fund would be allowed to be invested in the stock market.

Working employees in Washington pay 0.58% of their paychecks into the fund, which supports long-term care for eligible seniors and residents with disabilities.
