WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A prominent Whatcom County non-profit has named a new chief executive.

Unity Care NW announced on Thursday, Oct. 1, that its board of directors has appointed Bonnie Ross as CEO.

Ross has served as interim CEO since June and succeeds Jodi Joyce, who retired this past summer after six years in the position.

“I believe in Unity Care NW and the work we do every day,” said Ross said in a news release. “Our mission is more than providing health care. It’s making sure every person in our community has access to compassionate, high-quality care, whatever their circumstances. I’m honored to keep doing that work alongside our staff, our patients, and our neighbors across Whatcom County.”

Unity Care NW is a federally-qualified health center that served nearly 24,000 people across Whatcom County in 2025 between its locations in Bellingham and Ferndale. That included high demand seen in the first year of the downtown Bellingham Way Station, which offers basic health care services and case management to people experiencing homelessness.

Ross joined Unity Care in 2021 as the organization’s chief financial and compliance officer.

She will officially take over as CEO on Oct. 5.
