MAPLE FALLS, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two people were injured following a crash in Maple Falls.

Washington State Patrol says that a car heading north on Kendall Road attempted to pass another car Saturday evening, Oct. 3.

The pass attempt was unsuccessful and the car ended up hitting a fence near Cimarron Way.

The 18-year-old driver and a 20-year-old passenger, both men from Maple Falls, were not wearing seatbelts.

Both were injured in the crash. Crews transported the passenger to Harborview Medical Center, while the driver was taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.

Two other passengers from Bellingham and Maple Falls weren’t hurt.

WSP is still investigating the crash, noting that drugs or alcohol were likely factors.
