TRAFFIC UPDATE: Roads closed in Custer due to overturned semi should reopen Wednesday evening

CUSTER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An overturned semi led to some detours near Custer on Wednesday.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says that the semi flipped at the intersection of Harksell and Enterprise Roads just after 9 a.m. Wednesday. The east sides of the roads are expected to be closed for a few hours while the vehicle is righted.

Part of the roadway is still closed, but WCSO spokesperson Deb Slater says it’s expected to reopen around 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. tonight. Slater also said the semi was carrying materials for Lynden Door, and the driver sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
