YAKIMA AND SPOKANE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Three Whatcom County teams are still fighting for state basketball titles on Championship Saturday in Yakima and Spokane.

The top-seeded Lynden girls are facing 3rd-seeded Prosser in the 2A state championship game at the Yakima Valley SunDome. The Lions are seeking their third straight state title and 75th consecutive win under coach Rob Adams.

Junior Finley Parcher is coming off a game where she racked up 21 points and 22 rebounds in yesterday’s victory over Clarkston. If they win today, they’ll have taken out the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seeds in the tournament in what’s been another dominant run by the Lions so far.

Coverage begins at 4:45 and tipoff is at 5:00 on KPUG with Randy Farmer and the coach Dan Kaemingk on the call.

After that, the 2nd-seeded Lynden Christian boys are playing top-seeded Zillah in the 1A state championship. The Lyncs are coming off a comeback win over King’s in the semifinals after trailing by 7 points at halftime. Coach Tim Zylstra has a chance to win his third title in five years.

Coverage begins at 6:45 and tipoff is at 7:00 on KPUG with Randy and Dan on the call.

At the same time, the top-seeded Lummi Nation boys are going up against 3rd-seeded Tulalip Heritage in the 1B state championship game at Numerica Veterans Arena in Spokane. It’s the fifth matchup of the season between Lummi and Tulalip, dubbed the I-5 Rivalry, with the Blackhawks having won all four to this point.

Lummi coach Jerome Toby will be seeking his second straight state championship in his son Jerome Toby Jr.’s final game as a Blackhawk. The younger Toby has racked up over 2,000 career points and will exit as Lummi’s all-time leading scorer after his storied career is over.

Coverage begins at 6:45 and tipoff is at 7:00 on KGMI (also streaming live on MyBellinghamNow.com) with Jason Upton and Rick Todd on the call.

But first, the 3rd-seeded Lynden Christian girls are playing for bronze when they take on 5th-seeded Royal in the 1A third place game at the SunDome. The Lyncs were bounced from championship contention last night by 2nd-seeded Zillah.

Coverage begins at 12:45 pm and tipoff is at 1:00 on KPUG with Randy and Dan on the call.

Meanwhile, the 8th-seeded Lummi Nation girls are playing 7th-seeded Pateros in the 1B 4th place game, that tipped off at 9:30 am.
