DEMING, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A suspected DUI crash on the Mount Baker Highway injured three teens overnight.

The Washington State Patrol said the car was heading eastbound when the driver lost control and hit a pole shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 28.

The car rolled over and came to rest in a field near the Nooksack Salmon Hatchery.

The 17-year-old driver and two passengers—a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old—were injured and transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.

The accident blocked both lanes of the highway until around 7 a.m. and knocked out power to two Puget Sound Energy customers in the area.

The accident is still under investigation but WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved.
