Severe Weather Shelter in Bellingham opens doors this weekend

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham’s Severe Weather Shelter is opening this weekend for the first time this season.

Whatcom County announced the shelter will be open on Saturday, Nov. 29 and Sunday Nov. 30 overnight.

The shelter opening may extend to Monday depending on weather conditions.

My Bellingham Now previously reported Bellingham’s Severe Weather Shelter will operate this winter when temperatures outside drop to at or below freezing level or other severe weather events occur.

Check in at the shelter at 925 N. Forest St. is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with check out at 8 a.m. the following morning.

Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and meals will be available for guests.

This year’s shelter will have space for up to 60 guests each night.
