Sehome High School student killed in weekend car crash in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Sehome High School is mourning the loss of one of its students following a car crash in Bellingham.

Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says the crash occurred on Boulevard just south of the State Street roundabout at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16.

The vehicle was found engulfed in flames on the South Bay Trail and the fire was quickly extinguished by Bellingham firefighters.

Officers found one occupant in the car, who did not survive the collision and subsequent fire.

The Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the driver on Tuesday, Nov. 18 as a 17-year-old senior from Sehome High School whose name My Bellingham Now is withholding.

His death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner’s office. Bellingham Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
