SEATTLE, WA (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks are going up for sale.

The estate of late team owner Paul Allen announced on Wednesday, Feb. 18 that it’s begun the process of selling the team.

It comes weeks after the Seahawks won their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

The estate says the sale is consistent with Allen’s directive to eventually sell his sports holdings, which also include the Portland Trail Blazers, and direct all estate proceeds to charity.

Allen was critical in keeping the Seahawks in Seattle, which is where the team is expected to remain after the sale is finalized.

Many reports suggest the sale is expected to set a new record for the price of a sports franchise.
