BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Chuckanut Drive (SR 11) south of Bellingham is closed due to a rockslide this morning, Tuesday, April 22.
WSDOT says the road is completely blocked from the Oyster Dome trailhead at milepost 10 to Chuckanut Manor at milepost 9.5.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding says the rockslide is roughly 150′ long and 30′ deep. Trooper Harding adds that the rocks did not impact or reach nearby train tracks.
Emergency crews are on the scene, but the closure is expected to be in place for multiple days or up to a week with the potential for an even longer closure.
Drivers should seek an alternate route until the road reopens.
