WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents in our region are already eligible for a tax extension following last December’s flooding.

The IRS announced the extension until May 1, 2026 for residents in Washington that experienced flood impacts last year.

Residents living in 16 counties including Whatcom and Skagit Counties automatically have the extension attached to their records.

If you encounter issues filing or live outside the coverage area but were affected by the flooding, contact the IRS via either special services or on their late penalty document.

More information can be found on the IRS’s website here.
