MOUNT VERNON, WASHINGTON (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Emergency repairs may cause some delays if you’re travelling through Mount Vernon next week.

The city says that emergency work will begin Monday at the railroad crossing that goes through Blackburn Rd and Old Hwy 99. It’s unclear what the repairs will fix, but a spokesperson for BNSF said in an email to MyBellinghamNow that work could shut down the intersection for up to an hour at a time.

Drivers are encouraged to use detour routes around the crossing to avoid extraneous delays, which includes Kincaid St. and I-5. Flaggers will also be stationed around the intersection to direct traffic.
