OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Your ticket to outdoor recreation in many parts of the state will soon cost a few more dollars.

Lawmakers passed HB 5390 into law earlier this year, which increases the price of a Discover Pass from $30 to $45.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that this is the first price hike for the pass since it was introduced in 2011.

The new law will also make the Lifetime Veterans’ Disability Pass an acceptable equivalent to the Discover Pass. But it removes an exemption that waives any reservation fees for veterans with the disability pass.

Birch Bay, Larrabee and Peace Arch State Parks all require a Discover Pass to visit here in Whatcom County.
