BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An opening day has been set for one of downtown Bellingham’s premier summer settings.

The Port of Bellingham announced that the Portal Container Village will open for the season on Friday, May 1.

The village includes a group of local vendors and offers biking, mini-golf and other activities.

“The seasonal opening of the Portal Container Village is a celebration of everything that makes Bellingham special—our creative local businesses, our deep connection to the water, and a working waterfront that continues to shape who we are,” said Port Interim Executive Director Tiffany DeSimone. “We’re proud to welcome the community to this shared space where maritime heritage meets local entrepreneurship, and where the waterfront remains active, authentic, and welcoming for all.”

There will be several new additions this year including a satellite location from Chuckanut Bay Distillery, complete with a rooftop deck overlooking the waterfront.

The village will also be the site of several major events this summer such as Northwest Tune-Up, the Shoestring Circus and the Noisy Waters Mural Festival.

The first event will be the “Party on the Pier'” on May 8, which features contemporary funk and jazz followed by a downtown wine walk.
