BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Port of Bellingham wants to hear from you on its plan to expand the board of commissioners.

The Port is holding a public hearing in the Harbor Center Commission Chambers at 2 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

It’s looking for feedback on its redistricting plan to add two new commissioners.

Voters approved a measure earlier this month to expand the board of commissioners from three to five members, with 65% voting in favor of the move.

The two new commissioners will be elected in the November 2026 general election.

The Port’s proposal would establish five commissioner districts with the same boundaries as the five existing Whatcom County Council districts.

It’s accepting written comments on its redistricting plan through Dec. 8 ahead of the public hearing. Written comments can be submitted to info@portofbellngham.com or mailed to PO Box 1677, Bellingham, WA 98227.
