Police Chief Steve Taylor confirms retirement from Lynden Police, Lynden begins search for replacement

LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The City of Lynden is on the search for the next leader of its police force.

Police Chief Steve Taylor confirmed to My Bellingham Now that he’s retiring at the end of the month after spending nearly six years with the department.

Taylor plans to return to his longtime home in Arkansas, where he’ll work as an attorney for the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Lynden’s Police Chief,” Taylor said. “We are blessed with a fantastic group of Officers and civilian staff, and a supportive community in which to work.”

In the meantime, the city has an open job listing for police chief on its website.

Applicants need to have at least ten years of law enforcement experience, with at least five years in senior or executive-level management.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 19, with first consideration given to applications received by Sept. 5.
