BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The wind has shifted here in Whatcom County. That means cooler temperatures and clean air have returned. It is sure to be a perfect weekend to get out and have some fun. We have a bunch of great activities for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

The Whatcom County Old Settlers Association is hosting the Pioneer Days Celebration in Ferndale on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25.

Starting at 11 a.m. on Friday, the fun starts at Pioneer Park. Attendees can explore the original log cabins, take part in a kids’ pioneer corral and kids’ passport activities, and check out local vendors. Then on Saturday, it kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Pioneer Classic Car Show followed by the Grand Parade through downtown Ferndale at 11 a.m. After the parade, there will be more fun for the whole family.

Entertainment includes an Elvis impersonator, the Mount Baker Toppers, an adult dance at the Red Barn and more.

Fans of aeronautics are in luck. The Lynden Airport’s Jansen Field Open House is on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This family-friendly event allows visitors to tour the airport, check out airplanes, and learn about aeronautics. There will be food and ice cream vendors on site. It is open to the public, but pets should be left at home.

Last weekend, Bellingham’s Sunnyland neighborhood hosted Sunnyland Stomp and now it’s time for the York Neighborhood to shine.

The York Yard Crawl is on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. An art walk, yard sale, music festival and garden party all rolled up into one, this annual event allows attendees to explore the bounty of one of Bellingham’s coolest neighborhoods.

Organizers have planned plenty of kid activities too, so feel free to bring the whole family.

We have two featured live shows in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

On Saturday night, Seattle’s Grieves will bring his brand of white boy rap to the Wild Buffalo for a night of debaucherous fun. Fans of Macklemore, Bad Fish and Beastie Boys don’t want to miss this one.

The show starts at 9 p.m. For tickets, go to wildbuffalo.net.

On Sunday night, Shakedown will feature a night of experimental electronic post punk, psych rock and alternative metal. Bellingham’s SiNns headlines.
