SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A pair of wildfires sent crews out to battle new flames in Skagit County.

The Big Lake Fire Department said one was a brush fire that sparked near Gilligan Road Thursday, Aug. 6.

Crews were quickly able to put out the 2-acre fire before it had a chance to spread.

Further east, additional fire personnel are responding to the Prairie Mountain Fire, which was initially reported earlier Friday morning.

It has burned about 30 acres on the west slopes of the mountain, but it doesn’t pose any threat to any residential areas at this time.
