FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Expect delays on I-5 in Ferndale next week as a state agency announces overnight closures.

WSDOT says both directions of I-5 will have overnight closures between Portal Way and Grandview Road starting this Sunday and extending through the week.

The left lane of SB I-5 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night from Sunday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 17.

The left lane of NB I-5 will also be closed during those same hours from Monday through Friday.

Crews will be repaving the road and installing cable barriers.

The work is part of a project to improve a 10-mile stretch of the highway between Blaine and the Nooksack River.
