Kraken News

The Kraken are looking to snap their skid tonight and get back in playoff positioning. They’re playing the Florida Panthers in the third leg of their six-game road trip out east.

Seattle has lost its last three games and seven of its last nine. It’s now taking on a struggling Panthers squad that has seen a true fall from grace, as the 2x defending Stanley Cup champs currently own the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Every game counts for the Kraken, who now sit four points behind the Nashville Predators for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with just 13 games to go in the regular season.

Coverage for tonight’s game begins at 3:30 and puck drops at 4:00 on KPUG.

Meanwhile, the Kraken are going international next season.

The Kraken and Carolina Hurricanes are set to play two games in Finland next season as part of the NHL’s Global Series. Carolina and Seattle will face off Nov. 12 and 14 in the Finnish capital of Helsinki.

The Kraken are heading abroad for the first time in their sixth season of existence.

Each team has a pair of Finns currently on its roster, including Kaapo Kakko and Eeli Tolvanen for Seattle.

SuperSonics News

Meetings are now underway to determine the future of the Seattle SuperSonics.

The NBA’s Board of Governors began their two days of meetings today to discuss expansion, among other topics.

ESPN has reported that the upcoming vote will determine whether the league will focus on Seattle and Las Vegas as two expansion teams and have a bidding process for the franchises. If it’s approved by 23 out of the 30 team governors, there would then be a final vote later this year to finalize the league’s expansion.

The discussion will wrap up tomorrow, which will be followed by league commissioner Adam Silver’s news conference and a recap of what happened during the meetings.

The Sweet 16 tips off on Friday with Notre Dame vs. Vanderbilt, North Carolina vs. UConn, Minnesota vs. UCLA and Duke vs. LSU.

Mariners News

First pitch for Mariners Opening Day is at 7:10 on Thursday, we’ll have the game on KGMI.
