The Seahawks survived a late rally by the Titans yesterday to rack up another road win. Seattle beat Tennessee 30-24 thanks to a career day from Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
JSN had eight catches for a season-high 167 yards and two touchdowns. He set Seattle’s single-season receiving yard record with 1,313 yards through just 11 games. He’s also on track to beat Calvin Johnson’s NFL record for receiving yards in a season.
The Hawks led by 20 early in the third quarter and managed to hold the Titans off after Tennessee strung together three late touchdowns. Seattle had four sacks to help them get their fifth win in their last six games.
Next up, they’ll host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Week 12 of the NFL season caps off tonight with the Seahawks’ division rival San Francisco 49ers hosting the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. Coverage begins at 4:00 and kickoff is at 5:15 on KPUG.

The Huskies put on a show down in LA over the weekend.
UW beat UCLA 48-14 on Saturday behind four touchdowns from Demond Williams Jr. They now own an 8-3 record ahead of their regular season finale against 5th nationally ranked Oregon.
Washington State wasn’t as fortunate, they lost on the road to #20 James Madison 24-20. The Cougs fell to 5-6 and will need a win against Oregon State next weekend to be bowl-eligible.
Kraken/Torrent News
The Kraken couldn’t end their road trip on a high note. They fell to the New York Islanders 1-0 in a shootout yesterday.
Seattle finished its road trip with a 2-2 split over four games. They’re back at Climate Pledge on Wednesday when they host the Dallas Stars.
Meanwhile, the Torrent fell in their Professional Women’s Hockey League Debut. They lost to the Vancouver Goldeneyes 4-3 on Friday night.
Julia Gosling scored Seattle’s first-ever goal and followed up with a second, but they came up just short in Vancouver.
WWU Vikings News
Western’s women’s soccer season has come to an end. The Viks fell to Azusa Pacific in PKs on Saturday in their opening match of the NCAA tournament.
Senior Claire Potter scored Western’s sole goal of the game before Azusa tied it with just over a minute left in regulation. After two scoreless overtime periods, Azusa edged them 6-5 on penalty kicks.
Meanwhile, the UW women’s soccer team is heading to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2010. The fourth-seeded Huskies upset top-seeded Virginia in penalties 5-4 yesterday to advance from the Sweet 16.
They’ll now face Duke on either Friday or Saturday.
HS Football News
Two Whatcom County teams are left following the high school football state tournament quarterfinals.
Mount Baker beat Omak 32-22 and Lynden Christian took down Montesano 56-35 on Saturday to advance to the 1A semifinals. There, the 3rd-seeded Mountaineers will face 2nd-seeded Cashmere in Wenatchee, while the 4th-seeded Lyncs travel to face top-seeded Royal with a chance to meet in the state championship game.
We’ll have Baker’s game on the radio for you, as both teams kick off at 3:00 on Saturday.
Across the state, Lynden had its season come to an end in a tight 27-24 loss to East Valley of Yakima. The Lions finish their season with a 9-3 record after bowing out in the quarterfinals for the third straight year.
Sehome got booted from the tournament in a 52-20 loss to Archbishop Murphy. The Mariners finished with a 7-5 record in their last season with senior quarterback Nolan Wright, who set Whatcom County’s all-time records for career passing touchdowns and passing yards.
Meanwhile, Anacortes beat Orting 35-14 to advance to the 2A semifinals for the third straight year. There, the 2x defending state champion Seahawks will face Archbishop Murphy at 2 pm on Saturday.
