Kraken News

The Kraken couldn’t start their road trip off strong in the Motor City last night.

Seattle fell to the Detroit Red Wings 4-2.

Jordan Eberle scored late in the first period to give the Kraken an early lead, but the Red Wings piled on three goals in the second to propel the win.

Seattle fell from second to fourth place in the Pacific Division with the loss. They’ll look to make up the lost ground in Chicago tomorrow when they take on 20-year-old phenom Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.

Coverage begins at 4:30 and puck drops at 5 on KPUG.

NFL News

A former Huskies football star has had his season cut short.

The Atlanta Falcons announced today that starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will have season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn left ACL.

Penix’s college career was plagued by injuries after tearing his right ACL twice while at Indiana. He went on to become a Heisman finalist in his final season at UW, when he helped them reach the national championship in 2024.

This is now his fifth season-ending injury in eight seasons between college and the NFL.

It comes after Penix threw for just under 2,000 yards with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while leading Atlanta to a 3-7 record.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks are making headlines with their latest addition.

Seattle signed Brenden Rice, son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, to their practice squad yesterday.

Brenden played at Colorado and USC before being drafted with the Chargers’ 7th-round pick in 2024. He played three games as a rookie last year without recording a stat before being placed on the injured reserve.

His father is the leading receiver in NFL history and ended his 20-year career in the league with Seattle in 2004.

UW Huskies News

The Huskies men’s basketball team came out on top of a barn burner last night.

Washington edged Southern 99-93 in double overtime at Alaska Airlines Arena. Sophomore Wesley Yates led the team with 23 points and Desmond Claude added 20 off the bench in his Huskies debut.

UW was shorthanded, playing with just nine players due to injuries, as they jumped to 4-1 on the season.

The Huskies women take the floor tonight, they’re hosting Fresno State at 6:00 with a chance to improve to 4-0.

WWU Vikings News

Meanwhile, Western’s men’s basketball team is overseas for a late-night matchup.

The Viks are playing Chaminade in Honolulu for the first leg of a two game road trip to Hawaii.

Western has ripped off three straight wins after dropping their first two games of the season. Sophomore guard Aidan Rice was just named GNAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, averaging 19 points per game over their last two wins.

Tipoff for tonight’s game is at 9 pm West Coast time. The Viks are about a week from making their home debut at Carver Gym on Friday, Nov. 28.
