Mariners News

The Mariners are looking to rebound down in San Diego tonight.

Emerson Hancock is taking the mound for Game 2 against the Padres. The M’s had their four-game win streak snapped last night in a 4-1 loss to open the series.

They drew first blood in the second inning off a Dominic Canzone sacrifice fly that scored Randy Arozarena. But it was all Padres from there, as All-Star closer Mason Miller extended his scoreless streak to 29 and two-thirds innings, the longest active streak in Major League Baseball.

The Mariners will look to get their offense back up to speed tonight after managing just four hits in yesterday’s loss.

Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

Kraken/Torrent News

The Kraken are in Sin City tonight for their penultimate game of the season.

They’re facing the streaking Vegas Golden Knights, who have won six of their last seven.

Vegas has a chance to secure the top record in the Pacific Division, while Seattle was eliminated from the playoffs over the weekend. But the Kraken have controlled the ice against the Knights so far this season, having won all three of their previous matchups.

Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KGMI.

Meanwhile, the Torrent’s playoff hopes have ended as well.

Seattle lost to the Vancouver Goldeneyes 4-1 last night to become the first team eliminated from the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoffs. They’ll now have a chance to earn the first overall pick in the draft with the league’s new system called the “Gold Plan.”

Once a team is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, they’ll earn points using the league’s standard scoring system for the rest of their games played in the season. The non-playoff team that earns the most points after they’re eliminated will earn the top pick in the draft.

The rest of the Torrent’s three remaining games will be played at Climate Pledge Arena, starting this Saturday with a rematch against Vancouver.

Sounders News

The Sounders need a big win tonight at Lumen Field.

They’re facing the Tigres UANL in the second leg of their quarterfinals matchup in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Sounders fell to the Liga MX club 2-0 in Mexico last week and will now have to score three goals in regulation to advance on the aggregate score. If Seattle is up two goals at the end of regulation tonight, they’ll play two 15-minute extra time periods to break the tie before it heads to a penalty shootout, if necessary.

Tonight’s game gets underway at 8:30 from Lumen Field.

UW Huskies News

One of the Huskies’ top hoopers is heading to the pros.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express reported today that UW freshman forward Hannes Steinbach is declaring for the NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-11 German scored 18.5 points per game last season while leading the nation with 11.8 rebounds per game.

ESPN ranks him as the No. 15 prospect in the draft, which takes place on June 23.
