Another head coaching vacancy has been filled in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns announced today that they’ve hired former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. He’ll replace Kevin Stefanski, who was fired earlier this month after six seasons in Cleveland.
That leaves the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals as the only two teams still searching for a new head coach.
And bad news for Seahawks fans: several outlets have reported that Seattle’s offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak remains one of the Raiders top options. But they can’t hire him until after the Super Bowl on Feb. 8.
NBA News
One of the NBA’s biggest stars could be on the move.
ESPN reports that the Milwaukee Bucks are now entertaining offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. The 2x MVP has been reported to welcome a trade from the Bucks, who own the 4th-worst record in the Eastern Conference and are positioned to miss the playoffs.
Giannis helped the Bucks win their first championship in 50 years in 2021 and ranks first in every major statistical category in team history.
He’s expected to miss the next several weeks with a calf strain.
Kraken News
The Kraken continued their rollercoaster of a season with a big win last night.
Seattle beat the Washington Capitals 5-1 behind two goals and two assists from Jared McCann. After a scoreless first period, the Kraken broke loose for three goals in the second and never looked back.
They now sit in a three-way tie for 8th place in the Western Conference along with the San Jose Sharks and LA Kings.
The Kraken will look to get a leg up in the playoff hunt against the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow night in the final leg of their homestand. Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KGMI.
UW Huskies News
The Huskies have announced their schedule for the 2026 football season.
UW will open its season at home with the 118th Apple Cup against Washington State. It will be the earliest game in the matchup’s century-long history.
Their other two non-conference games will also be played at home against Utah State and Eastern Washington.
The Huskies’ conference schedule will include a home matchup against the defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers on Nov. 21. Their season caps off the following weekend with a road game against Oregon.

Lynden’s girls flag football team is riding high amid a successful first year.
The Lions earned wins over Bellingham and Squalicum last night to win the district championship. They now improve to 12-0 on the season.
Lynden and Squalicum, who finished as runners-up, now advance to the bi-district tournament.
The 2nd-seeded Lions will host 7th-seeded Lindbergh at Ferndale High School at 5 pm on Friday. The 5th-seeded Storm will travel to Cedarcrest High school to face 4th-seeded Renton that same night.

The Bellingham boys beat Squalicum 62-53 as Bayhawks senior Joe Harward notched his thousandth career point, finishing with 26 to lead all scorers.
The Squalicum girls got revenge with a 61-25 win over Bellingham.
The Ferndale girls topped Meridian 62-33.
The Meridian boys beat Ferndale 70-62 behind a career-high 33 points from senior Daniel Larsen.
The Nooksack Valley boys handled Granite Falls 59-39.
The Nooksack girls added a 45-35 win over Cedar Park Christian.
The Blaine girls lost to Lakewood 68-35.
And the Blaine boys also fell to Lakewood 72-39.

The Lynden Christian girls host Oak Harbor, while the LC boys are on the road for Oak Harbor, both tipping off at 7:15.
