Kraken News

Kraken hockey is back tonight. Seattle’s hosting the Anaheim Ducks in their series opener.

It will be the Kraken’s first game under new head coach Lane Lambert, who’s their third coach in as many seasons. He’ll look to turn around a team that finished in a tie for the fourth-worst record in the NHL last season.

Seattle will be without two key pieces after suffering injuries to Ryker Evans and Kaapo Kaako over the past month. But we should get a first look at their No. 8 overall pick from 2024, Berkeley Catton.

Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.

Mariners News

The Mariners are gearing up for their biggest game in decades. They’re hosting the Detroit Tigers in a decisive Game 5 tomorrow with a chance to advance to their first ALCS since 2001.

Detroit will roll out reigning Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal to take the mound, while the Mariners have yet to announce their starter for tomorrow’s game. The winner will move on to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS after the Jays finished off the Yankees in a 5-2 win yesterday.

Tomorrow’s coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:08 on KGMI.

Elsewhere around the MLB Playoffs…

The Dodgers are trying to book their ticket to the NLCS during Game 4 in Los Angeles.

The Phillies beat LA 8-2 yesterday to stave off elimination. Now, the defending champion Dodgers are looking to avoid a win-or-go-home Game 5 in Philly on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Cubs and Brewers are facing off later tonight.

Chicago edged Milwaukee 4-3 yesterday at Wrigley Field to keep their season alive. Now, the Brewers will look to slam the door shut on the divisional series and keep their magical season going after finishing with the best record in the regular season.

First pitch for Game 4 is at 6:08 from Wrigley.

WNBA News

The Las Vegas Aces are on the verge of winning the WNBA Finals.

Vegas beat the Phoenix Mercury 90-88 last night to take a 3-0 series lead. Reigning MVP A’ja Wilson had 34 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort.

The Aces will look to secure the sweep and win their third title in four years in Game 4 on Friday.

HS Football News

The Associated Press has released its latest high school football poll ahead of Week 6.

Archbishop Murphy replaced Anacortes atop the Class 2A rankings in the state after the Seahawks’ loss to Squalicum last week. Lynden came in at No. 2 and Anacortes fell to No. 4. Sehome was tied for No. 10, while Squalicum placed just outside the Top 10, receiving the 13th most votes.

In 1A, Lynden Christian moved one spot up to No. 2 after shutting out Blaine. Mount Baker also moved up a spot to No. 6 after their shootout win over Nooksack Valley and Meridian came in at No. 9. Nooksack Valley placed just outside the rankings, having received the 13th most votes.

The Zone’s Friday Night Lights will be live from Lynden Christian tomorrow for LC’s big matchup against Sehome on KPUG. We’ll also be airing Mount Baker’s home matchup against Meridian on KBAI.

Allan Fee and the crew will be previewing both those games and all the other ones happening around the county tomorrow night starting at 3:00 and leading up until the 7:00 kickoff.
