Seahawks News

One of the Seahawks’ young stars just received a big honor. 3rd-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.

JSN racked up 417 yards in two touchdowns in just three games throughout the month due to the team’s bye week. He currently leads the league with 819 receiving yards and is on pace to break the NFL single-season receiving record with just under 2,000 yards.

JSN is the first Seahawk to earn the award since Geno Smith did three years ago.

The Seahawks are in the nation’s capital this weekend for a primetime matchup against the Commanders on Sunday night.

MLB News

The World Series is heading back to Toronto after the Blue Jays took control of the series last night.

Toronto beat LA 6-1 behind a historic performance on the mound from Trey Yesavage. The 22-year-old set a World Series rookie record with 12 strikeouts and the Blue Jays opened the game with back-to-back homers to set the tone.

Toronto is now one win away from their first championship since 1993. They’ll look to get the job done up North in Game 6 tomorrow.

But it won’t be easy against the defending champion Dodgers, who are starting Yoshinobu Yamamoto fresh off back-to-back complete games in the playoffs.

Storm News

It’s set to tip off on Jan. 5.

HS Football News

The latest high school football rankings have been released ahead of the final week of the regular season.

Lynden stayed put at sixth place in Washington’s Class 2A in the latest AP poll. Sehome moved up a spot to No. 9 in the state after their dominant win over Squalicum.

Mount Baker moved up to No. 4 in Class 1A, with Lynden Christian right behind at No. 5. And Nooksack Valley moved up a spot to No. 8 in the state after their win over Montesano, who fell two spots to No. 6.

The Pioneers will look to keep the momentum up at home tonight when they host Lynden Christian. Both teams have already locked up a spot in the 24-team play-in round next week, but the winner of tonight’s game will secure second place in the Northwest Conference.

Jason Upton will be on the call for that game on KPUG along with Nick Zeller-Singh from Cascadia Daily News.

Elsewhere in 1A, Meridian is hosting Blaine in what will be both of their final conference games of the season. Randy Farmer and Rick Todd will have the call for that one on KGMI.

Coverage for both games begins at 6:40 and kickoff is at 7:00.

Elsewhere in the county tonight…

Mount Baker hosts Omak at 6 pm.

And Bellingham hosts Squalicum at 7:30.
