Seahawks fever is spreading all around Whatcom County ahead of the Super Bowl, but it’s hitting one city extra hard.
The Ferndale City Council voted unanimously yesterday to rename the city as “Hawkdale” through the big game this Sunday. According to resolution, the move comes in honor of the unmatched spirit of the 12s fans amid a season where the Seahawks set their franchise record for wins.
It follows a similar decision by the City of Issaquah to rename itself as “12saquah” through the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks are set to kick off against the Patriots at 3:30 pm on Sunday in Super Bowl 60 .

The Kraken are back tonight with a chance to achieve their longest win streak of the season.
They’re facing the Anaheim Ducks in the second leg of their five game road trip. Seattle’s offense has come alive amid its current four-match win streak, with 17 combined goals over that stretch.
They’re now facing a Ducks squad that’s trending up. Anaheim has won 8 of its last 10 after going on a dreadful nine game skid.

The NFL world was shook today after learning of another notable Hall of Fame snub.
ESPN reports that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was not selected for entry into this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class. He joins his former coach Bill Belichick as two first-time candidates that didn’t receive enough votes to be inducted in Canton.
The two helped lead the Pats to six Super Bowl titles, but will have to wait until next year for another stab at the Hall of Fame.
The official inductees will be announced Thursday night at the NFL Honors in San Francisco.

Western’s softball season is up and running.
The No. 3 nationally ranked Vikings hammered Colorado Christian 14-4 this morning. They now own a 4-2 record to start off the season, led by senior shortstop Haily Rath’s two home runs.
They’ll look to keep it up on Friday when they kick off the West Coast Challenge in California with a doubleheader against Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal State East Bay.
Meanwhile, Western’s women’s soccer team is getting a boost from some local talent this fall. Sehome senior Keira Reeves and Lynden Christian senior Kayla Yun were part of the Vikings’ 2026 recruiting class announced yesterday.

The Ferndale boys beat Mount Baker 80-55, with Golden Eagles senior Mantaj Singh recording his one-thousandth career point.
The Ferndale girls also beat Baker 67-44.
The Nooksack Valley girls clobbered Oak Harbor 62-26.
The Nooksack boys fell to Oak Harbor 63-47.
The Blaine boys lost to Mount Vernon 54-42.
And the Blaine girls also fell to Mount Vernon 59-35.

The Lummi Nation boys and girls are each hosting Tulalip Heritage in their regular season finales. The two Blackhawks teams have just three combined losses on the season between them, with the defending 1B state champion boys riding a 14 game win streak.
