Mariners News

The Mariners are back today as they continue their road trip out East. They’re opening their four-game series against the Orioles in Baltimore.

The M’s fell to the Tigers on a walk off yesterday to lose the series after dropping two out of three in Detroit.

To make matters worse, the team placed shortstop and leadoff hitter J.P. Crawford on the 10-day injured list today with a right hand contusion. But reinforcements could be on the way, with Cal Raleigh making his first rehab appearance for the Everett Aqua Sox last night. Big Dumper went 1-3 with a single in his first game back since hitting the injured list in mid-May with an oblique strain.

The Mariners are now looking to rebound against an Orioles team that’s coming off back-to-back losses to the Blue Jays.

Emerson Hancock is on the mound as he aims to bolster his All-Star campaign. Coverage begins at 2:30 and first pitch is at 3:35 on KPUG.

Bells News

The Bells picked up a series win down in Oregon yesterday.

Bellingham used a 4-run sixth inning to squeak by the Springfield Drifters 12-11 in a barn burner. Third baseman Ty Rusko hit a home run and a double to help the Bells improve to 5-4 on the young season.

They’re back at Joe Martin Field tomorrow night for the start of a three-game series against the Nanaimo NightOwls.

Storm News

The Storm’s early-season freefall continued over the weekend.

Seattle fell to the Minnesota Lynx 88-68 on Saturday for their fifth straight loss. Natisha Hiedeman and Jade Melbourne each scored 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Storm dropped to 3-9 on the season.

They’ll look to snap their skid tonight when they face the defending champion Aces in Las Vegas.

Torrent News

The Torrent just lost one of their top players and one of women hockey’s biggest stars.

The AP reports that Hilary Knight is heading to Detroit as part of a sign-and-trade deal. Knight is reported to first be signing a foundational contract with Las Vegas before Vegas sends her to Detroit in exchange for a first-round pick.

Both Knight and the Torrent are reported to have wanted her to stay in Seattle, but the team chose not to include her among its three protected players for expansion.

Las Vegas and Detroit are each among the PWHL’s four new expansion teams. The trade won’t become official until the league’s trade freeze lifts on June 16.

NBA/NHL Finals News

The NBA Finals continues tonight with its return to the Big Apple.

New York is hosting its first Finals game in over 25 years when the Knicks play the Spurs in Game 3. The Knicks will aim to take a 3-0 series lead with President Donald Trump in attendance at Madison Square Garden.

Meanwhile, the Stanley Cup Final has an off-day before returning to Las Vegas for Game 4 tomorrow. The Golden Knights took a thrilling win on Saturday, edging the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in double overtime to take a 2-1 series lead.
