College Football News

The penultimate round of College Football Playoff rankings have just been released.

Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia and Texas Tech earned the top four spots, while Oregon moved up to fifth after Texas A&M suffered its first loss of the season. The committee also moved Ole Miss up a spot to No. 6 despite the departure of former head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU.

As it currently stands, the 12-team pool would include five SEC schools and three Big Ten schools.

The final rankings will be released following the conference championships this weekend, which will pit the Buckeyes and Hoosiers against each other in a matchup of the only undefeated teams left in the nation. We’ll also get Georgia-Alabama and BYU-Texas Tech.

NFL News

The New England Patriots stayed on top of the NFL with a win on Monday Night Football yesterday.

The Pats beat the New York Giants 33-15 to become the first team in the league to reach 11 wins. MVP candidate Drake Maye threw for 2 touchdowns to help New England get its 10th straight win.

Week 14 of the NFL season kicks off on Thursday when the Detroit Lions host the Dallas Cowboys with major playoff implications on the line.

WNBA News

The WNBA and its players have agreed on a deal to extend the deadline for contract negotiations by 40 days.

The league announced that it will have until Jan. 9 to come to terms on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, or CBA.

The move comes as the two sides have seemingly remained far apart amid negotiations, with the biggest sticking points being salary structure and revenue sharing systems. Sources have told the AP that the league’s latest proposal would establish a max player salary of $1 million and an average salary of just over half a million.

UW Huskies News

The Huskies women are moving on up the national college basketball rankings. Washington jumped to No. 21 in the AP’s latest poll.

The Huskies are coming off an 80-54 win over San Jose State that helped them stay undefeated. Junior guard Sayvia Sellers continued her hot start to the season with 29 points off 5-10 shooting from 3. Former Nooksack Valley standout Devin Coppinger added 4 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench.

The Huskies will face their toughest test of the season on Sunday when they head down south to take on #16 USC.
