Bells News
It’s win or go home for the Bells tonight as they take on the Edmonton Riverhawks in the North Division Championship. Edmonton is hosting the single-game playoff match, with the winner advancing to the West Coast League Championship on Thursday, where they’ll play either Portland or Corvallis.
Bellingham is coming off a tight series win over Wenatchee in the opening round where they escaped with a walk off win at Joe Martin Field on Sunday.
The Bells had a slight advantage over Edmonton in the regular season, taking five of their nine games. They’re playing in the division title game for the fourth-straight season, but are looking to win it for the first time since 2022.
First pitch is at 6:05 from Edmonton.
The Bells are hosting a watch party at Aslan Brewing Company. You can also livestream the game for free on the Edmonton Riverhawks’ YouTube channel.
Mariners News
The Mariners are kicking off a nine-game East Coast road trip today against the Baltimore Orioles.
The M’s are one of the hottest teams in baseball, riding a seven-game win streak. They’re coming off back-to-back series sweeps over the Rays and White Sox, and now sit just a game behind the Houston Astros for first place in the American League West.
Meanwhile, the struggling Orioles sit in last place in the AL East and have lost seven of their last ten. The Mariners are looking for redemption after getting swept by the Orioles at home earlier this season.
Coverage begins at 2:30 and first pitch is at 3:35 on KPUG with George Kirby on the mound.

College Football News
The college football season is just around the corner and the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll is out. Only two first-place votes and five points separate No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Penn State.
Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia round out the top five. Oregon came in at number 7 in the poll, with Boise State coming in at number 25.
Washington and Washington State did not make the top 25.
The Huskies will have to compete against four ranked opponents in the Big Ten this upcoming season, while the Cougs have just one ranked matchup.
Speaking of the Cougs, a former standout in Pullman is at the center of the latest sports betting controversy. ESPN reports that screenshots of past references to “sports gambling” on John Mateer’s Venmo account surfaced online yesterday.
Mateer, now the starting quarterback at Oklahoma, denied ever being involved with gambling and said it was instead “inside jokes” with his friends. School officials are looking into the situation, but the university says it’s unaware of any NCAA investigation and has no reason to believe one is pending.
Mateer, the No. 1 overall player in ESPN’s portal rankings, transferred to Oklahoma after posting a career year with Wazzu in 2024.
