SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A preemptive closure of a local highway over the weekend is not extending through the winter just yet.

WSDOT announced that the North Cascades Highway reopened at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 after a four-day closure.

Weekend snow in the forecast spurred the sudden closure on Thursday, Nov. 13 between Ross Dam Trailhead and Silver Star Gate.

WSDOT has previously done closures like this for inclement weather ahead of the full winter season.

Last year the road closed for the season on Nov. 18.
